IVI & the FinTech Corridor Webinar: The Future of Digital Payments – Trust, Compliance and Innovation

On this occasion we are collaborating with The FinTech Corridor to gather experts to present and discuss the future of digital payments. Stimulated by the circumstances surrounding the recent pandemic, innovative digital payment systems have been embraced at an accelerated rate due to their ability to empower customers and companies alike. However, the sustainability of these systems will be keenly influenced by consumer perception of trustworthiness. Incorporated within that is the ease with which digital payment providers can comply to those standards which are so crucial to their clients. And while the digital payments have flourished and evolved in recent years, there is always potential for further innovation and friction reduction. In this webinar, our panel will each present their own unique perspective on these areas, after which they will join to discuss the potential opportunities and pitfalls that lie ahead on the path to the future of digital payments.

Digital Retail: How can retailers develop sustainability and competitiveness in the post-pandemic retail landscape?

Covid-19 significantly accelerated digital transformation in the retail industry. The changes that were observed during the critical periods of Covid-19 were on average an acceleration of 5-10 years of normal times. Many of these changes are here to stay but some might be reverted. As now we are hopefully moving towards post-Covid retailing, businesses need to assess which digital innovations will help them sustain and grow and how these innovations need to be naturally engraved in the existing business models. In this webinar the Innovation Value Institute and Enterprise Ireland are bringing experts together to discuss what is next for digital retail as we are moving out of lockdowns and restrictions. Will the pace of acceleration stay the same or slow down and more importantly what can retailers do to keep themselves relevant for the future?

IVI Webinar – Digital Construction: I.S. EN ISO 19650-2:2018 – Practical Insights and Irish Annex

ISO 19650-2:2018 is the standard for organization and digitization of information about buildings and civil engineering works, including building information modelling (BIM) – Information management using building information modelling and the Part 2 is for delivery phase of the assets.

The delivery phase of assets consists of eight activities, including: 1) Assessment and need; 2) Invitation to tender; 3) Tender response; 4) Appointment; 5) Mobilization; 6) Collaborative production of information; 7) Information model delivery; 8) project close-out.  All the eight activities are undertaken per each state of any building project life cycle.

According to ISO 19650-1: 2018, which outline the “concepts and principles of information management”, effective management of information shall be applied throughout the project duration. For this purpose, various information planning and production tasks have been defined, in association with the activities through the delivery phase of assets a process, has been outlined in part 2 of ISO 19650. In simple terms, the requirements in ISO19650-2 sets out a “Plan-Do-Check-Act” process for the project team to engage in.

This webinar aims to provide some insights to ISO 19650-2:2018 from different practice perspectives, and to introduce the Irish annex for this standard and the aims of creating this annex.

Introducing Trustworthy AI

Artificial intelligence (AI) is developing rapidly, but there is a delay in its introduction into the higher education curriculum. While more and more AI instruction is being offered in STEM subjects, a large number of students leave their careers without understanding the scope, opportunities, or risks of AI. While there is great potential AI to streamline our economies and to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals and the European Green Pact, AI brings with it complex challenges in areas such as security, privacy, and social discrimination, among others. In this webinar we will showcase our work in Trustworthy AI. Our goal is to expand the teaching of AI in higher education beyond the technology aspect, and to engage with AI ethics and values questions. We will explore the Learning Framework for ethical AI for stakeholders, our Open Educational Resources and our Hackathon Guide that offer practical tools for teachers to implement new content and develop ethical AI skills in students in a practical way.

Digital Retail I: How digital innovations are transforming the retail sector

The retail sector has gone through an unprecedented transformation in the last 12 months. The shift to online and omnichannel retailing has been swift. However, digital transformation is not just about implementing a specific function, like a shopping cart to your existing website. In reality, organizations must make fundamental changes to their operations, supply chains, inventory management, and customer relationship processes. They must analyse data to accurately project demand, react to customer needs, and ship products quickly and efficiently. As now we are hopefully moving towards post-Covid retailing, businesses need to assess which digital innovations will help them sustain and grow and how these innovations need to be naturally engraved in the existing business models.
