IVI Summit 2022

“Digital Transformation – Shaping the Hybrid Future”

Advancing Digital Transformation was the theme of the 2022 Summit, which aimed at shaping the hybrid future, endeavoring to maximize the best of both worlds: the virtual and the physical.

In line with the theme, it was a hybrid event, with both in-person and virtual attendees on campus at Maynooth University.

Ensuring how this happened brought both challenges and opportunities to industry leaders and academic researchers across various sectors.

At the IVI Summit, experienced industry leaders, policymakers, and academic speakers shared their insights. With keynote addresses and parallel breakout discussions, the summit addressed some of the key questions that challenged them.

Professor Jan vom Brocke

Director, Institute for Information Systems, University of Liechtenstein

Professor Jan vom Brocke the Hilti Endowed Chair for Business Process Management, Director of the Institute for Information Systems at the University of Liechtenstein and Co-Founder of DIGITIZE.EU – an innovative platform to inspire and implement ambitious digitalization initiatives across Europe. Jan`s research has been published in many of the Financial Times Top 50 journals, such as Management Science, Management Information Systems Quarterly, Journal of Management Information Systems and MIT Sloan Management Review, and a recent Stanford study ranks Jan vom Brocke among the Top 0.5% of the world’s most cited scientists across all disciplines. He is the author and editor of 44 books, many of them considered best sellers in management and digitalization, such as the book Business Process Management Cases – Digital Innovation and Business Transformation in Practice, which has been downloaded more than 5 million times on the Springer Nature database. Jan has acquired over €40 million in research funding and the projects of his team have been featured in popular newspapers around the word, including the Wall Street Journal, Daily Mail, and Telegraph. Jan has received over 20 international awards and has been named a Fellow of the World Association for Information Systems. Jan is an invited speaker and trusted advisor to many companies – big and small – as well as governmental institutions across Europe.

Laura Clifford

Senior Commercialisation Specialist, Research and Innovation Division, Enterprise Ireland

Laura is a Senior Commercialisation Specialist, ICT, in the Research and Innovation Division at Enterprise Ireland. Her role involves supporting and developing new third level spin out opportunities from Irish research.

Prior to joining EI, Laura was the Senior Executive Manager of FinTech Fusion at the ADAPT SFI Research Centre, which is a global centre of excellence for digital content technology. Laura directed the commercialisation, operation and business development activities within FinTech Fusion, a large scale, collaborative research programme partnering with a consortium of Financial Service, Insurance and FinTech companies, exploring technologies such as blockchain and AI to revolutionise the industry.

Laura is a founding member of BlockW, a group of female leaders in the Blockchain space that came together to demystify the technology and make it accessible to all. The group aims to facilitate conversation around the opportunities that blockchain presents to women and other groups in Ireland.

Previously, Laura spent 15 years in management roles within a range of technology companies, supporting clients in the research, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, and food sectors. She also led the commercial partnership programme of a large-scale Internet of Things test bed in Dublin with DCU, Arizona State University, Intel, Microsoft and Croke Park. Laura holds an MSc in Technology & Innovation Management from Technological University Dublin and a BA (Mod.) in Science from Trinity College Dublin. She is a certified project management professional (PMP) accredited by the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Professor Markus Helfert

Director of Innovation Value Institute

Markus Helfert is the Director of IVI and Director of Empower – the SFI funded Programme on Data Governance. He is also Professor of Digital Service Innovation and Director of the Business Informatics Group at Maynooth University. He is a Principle Investigator at Lero – The Irish Software Research Centre and at the Adapt Research Centre. His research is centred on Digital Service Innovation, Smart Cities and IoT based Smart Environments and includes research areas such as Service Innovation, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Smart Services, Building Information Management, FinTech, Data Value, Enterprise Architecture, Technology Adoption, Analytics, Business Process Managem ent. Prof. Helfert is an expert in Data Governance Standards and is involved in European Standardisation initiatives. Markus Helfert has authored more than 200+ academic articles, journal and book contributions and has presented his work at international conferences. Helfert has received national and international grants from agencies such as European Union (FP7; H2020), Science Foundation Ireland and Enterprise Ireland, was project coordinator on EU projects, and is the Project coordinator of the H2020 Projects: PERFORM on Digital Retail.

Carol Murphy

Partner, EY Consulting

Carol is a Partner in EY’s Consulting practice. Carol leads EY’s Technology Risk practice in Ireland which provides advice and support to EY clients in relation to cybersecurity and data protection, IT strategy and governance, Software Asset Management and Programme Risk Management and has a team of over 100 people. Carol is the Chief Risk Officer for EY Ireland and is a member of the EY Leadership Team. In addition, Carol sits on the Consulting Leadership team and leads on Innovation, working closely with our global alliances including SAP, Microsoft and ServiceNow. Carol has worked across a range of industry sectors, including manufacturing, retail, consumer goods, financial services and public sector.

Russell P. Branzell

CEO and President of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME)

Russell P. Branzell is the CEO and President of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and its affiliate associations, the Association for Executives in Healthcare Information Security (AEHIS), the Association for Executives in Healthcare Information Technology (AEHIT) and the Association for Executives in Healthcare Information Applications (AEHIA). In addition to his position at CHIME, he serves on the faculty at CHIME University and Columbia University, where he teaches executive classes in health information technology. He also is a member of the Baldrige Foundation Board and a former member of the Board of Overseers of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, a position that was appointed by the Secretary of Commerce.

Mr. Branzell joined CHIME as President and CEO in April 2013 after being an active member for 15 years. He served on the CHIME Board of Trustees from 2004-2008, as chair of the CHIME Education Committee from 2004-2008 and as chair of the CHIME Education Foundation.

Prior to taking his position at CHIME, he was the CEO at the Colorado Health Medical Group; Vice President of Information Services and CIO for Poudre Valley Health System; President/CEO of Innovation Enterprises (PVHS’ for-profit IS entity); and Regional Deputy CIO and Executive Director of Information Services for Sisters of Mercy Health System in St. Louis, MO. He served on active duty in the United States Air Force and retired from the Air Force Reserves in 2008. While on active duty, he held numerous healthcare administration positions, including CIO for the Air Mobility Command Surgeon General’s Office.

John Shaw

GM, Carelon Ireland

John Patrick Shaw is the Country Head for Carelon Ireland since September 2021. John leads Carelon’s Global R&D Hub and aims to build AI solutions for better Health. John is an award-winning expert in Digital Transformation, Agile and Lean Sigma. He is a co-founder of Quantum Computing Ireland.

John is a Fellow of the Irish Computer Society and a Fellow of Engineers Ireland. He is a registered European Professional Engineer ( Eur Ing ) with 15+ years’ experience in Digital Transformation in a range of sectors including Manufacturing, Financial Services, Energy, Pharma and Logistics. John holds an MBA in Technology Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics Engineering from University College Dublin.

A senior member of IEEE, John joined Carelon from the Data Value Hub where he built the organisation to help Enterprises with their AI journey, having previously held Executive Leadership roles in Primeline , Planet Payments , Mainstream and Pfizer.

Dr Peter Mooney

Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Maynooth University

Peter Mooney is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Maynooth University, Ireland. Having received his PhD in Computer Science from Maynooth University Peter moved away from academia and worked for over 10 years as a Research Fellow with the Environmental Protection Agency Ireland specialising in open data access for scientific, environmental and geospatial data at national and European levels. He returned to academia and took up his current post in 2016. Peter’s main areas of research lie at the intersection of Computer Science and Geocomputation with particular emphasis on applying computational models and approaches to working with volunteered, user generated, and citizen collected geospatial data and information. In recent years his work and that of his research group has broadened and expanded to include smart farming, the integration of machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) in problems within the geocomputation domain, and computational/AI processes within circular economy transformations. Peter is a passionate advocate and educator for the widespread use of open data, open science and open-source software and has been consistently actively involved with the FOSS4G (Free and Open Source Software for Geomatics), OpenStreetMap and open geodata communities globally for many years.

Daragh O’Brien

Founder and Managing Director of Castlebridge

Daragh O Brien is founder and managing director of Castlebridge, one of Ireland’s leading consultancies working in data strategy, data governance, and data protection. Since founding Castlebridge in 2009, Daragh and his team have worked with organisations of all sizes across a variety of sectors, including start-ups, SMEs, Non-Profits, Government bodies, EU institutions and other International Organisations.

Daragh is a co-author of Ethical Data and Information Management: Concepts, Tools, and Methods, published by Kogan Page, lectures in UCD School of Law and the Law Society of Ireland on Data Governance and Data Protection, and in the Smurfit Graduate School of Business on Data Ethics. He is also a member of the Innovation Value Institute in NUI Maynooth. He is a Fellow of the Irish Computer Society and a Fellow of Information Privacy from the IAPP.

Nicola Farronato

Head of Innovation Team City of Turin (2019-2021), Entrepreneur in Residence at Techstars' Turin Cities of the Future accelerator programme

Nicola is a T-shape manager and entrepreneur who likes to build new innovative
projects and ventures. He has extensive experience as an international business
developer who has worked in several European cities such as Venice, London,
Dublin, Paris and Turin. He practises and experiences entrepreneurship. He
develops creative projects in the digital world and has a natural sense of
transforming a mere idea into a fruitful business.

Nicola founded B-sm@rk in Ireland, a high potential tech start-up; Back2Africa in
Italy, a social entrepreneurship venture raising funds for Togo & Benin kids; and
VCNY (Venice Chinese New Year) in Italy, a destination marketing project focusing
on Chinese millennial travelers. In the last 12 months Nicola founded 2 new
start-ups: W4 Games in Ireland, a commercial open source software company for
the gaming industry; Plasy, an Italian start-up developing services for smart cities.

Nicola is 2022 Entrepreneur in Residence at Techstars’ Turin Cities of the future
acceleration programme and he served as head of the innovation team for the City
of Turin, acting as innovation manager for Torino City Lab. Nicola enrolled in 2020
as Ph.D. student at the University of Turin with a focus on innovation for the
circular economy.

 

Louise Edmonds

Regional Programme Manager with Age Friendly Ireland

Louise Edmonds is a Regional Programme Manager with Age Friendly Ireland, a shared service of local government that manages the national Age Friendly Programme, affiliated to the World Health Organization’s global programme.  Through this regional role, Louise supports counties in the east of the country to deliver healthy local Age Friendly Programmes that support society to prepare for population ageing. Part of her role is to deliver training on aspects of Age Friendly Programme to diverse audiences.

Louise takes a thematic lead in digital technology to support ageing in place and provides an interface between telehealth and telecare providers and other digital companies and older people’s groups who are interested in learning more about technology.

Louise has 30 years experience in the areas of urban and rural community development projects across the Fingal and east coast region. She has led on significant digital projects including Digitise the Nation and the Acorn Tablet Pilot Project.  She has worked with a wide range of community groups, but has had a particular focus on engaging with older people’s groups on collaborative projects to support participation and enhanced services.

Prof Dimitris Karagiannis

Head of Research Group Knowledge Engineering, University of Vienna

Dimitris holds a full professor position for Business Informatics at the University of Vienna since 1993, leading the Research Group Knowledge Engineering. He received his PhD degree from the Technical University Berlin in 1987. The same year he joined the Research Institute for Application-oriented Knowledge Processing in Ulm as division head for “Enterprise Information Systems”. Prof. Karagiannis holds an honorary professorship from the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. His research interests include meta-modelling, knowledge engineering, business process management, enterprise architecture, and artificial intelligence.
The industrial application of his meta-modelling research was demonstrated within the BOC Group, a software- and consulting company that develops and markets the EA tool ADOIT, which is top-rated by analyst firms.
In parallel scientific applications of his research are applied in the Open Models Laboratory—OMiLAB, an open collaborative environment for modelling method engineering, which he has established and is currently leading, located in Berlin.

Dr. Mohamad Kassem

Professor of Digital Construction Management at Newcastle University

Dr. Mohamad Kassem is Professor of Digital Construction Management at Newcastle University and  the International Committee Chair at the International Centre of Connected Construction (IC3). Previous roles included the Lead for the Digital Built Environment research group, the Head of Subject for the Project and Construction Project Management group, and the Director of Enterprise at Northumbria University.

He is a renowned researcher and expert in the area of Digital Construction investigating key challenges spanning across the project, organisation, and market levels. He is an internationally recognised researcher in the development and application of digitalisation technologies (BIM, Digital Twin, blockchain, and AI) and processes to address key challenges in construction and engineering projects. He is also a renowned researcher and consultant in digital transformation at industry level. He has advised several public sector bodies including the European Commission, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and various governments, about strategic digital transformation. He received the Scherer Award for outstanding service to the computing community in the context of European Council for Computing in Construction in 2021. He has published more than 110 outputs in international journals and conferences. His successful funding awards include multi-million-pound research and enterprise grants, co-funded by various British and international research and innovation councils.

Priti Mulchandani

Product Manager for SAP’s Innovation Center Network (ICN)

Priti is a Product Manager for SAP’s Innovation Center Network (ICN) which explores emerging technologies and business trends to define value for companies and society by solving industry wide problems.  With strong ties to the economic ecosystem, top-tier academia, and our technology radar ICN team scouts emerging technologies. Based on this the team evaluates idea projects to drive fundamental changes for industries by putting this innovations into SAP products. Some of the current areas that the team is exploring and experimenting include: Blockchain, Data and Algorithms, Security, Seamless Finance flows, Composable Enterprise. In a nutshell; this incubation hub within SAP future proofs the companies with digitization.

Prior to being Innovation Product Manager, Priti has vast experience and expertise in Analytics and was driving some of the key ML inclusions into SAP’s SaaS products. Priti is been with SAP for 16 years but has played different roles and different teams with wide exposure of business and technology domains.

After completing the computer engineering degree, Priti started working in IT firms and has been based in Ireland since last 12 years. Her love for Ireland’s green beauty, its people and tech savvy conversations is always growing.

Christoph Moser

Product Manager of ADOIT

After studying business administration, Christoph completed his doctorate at the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Vienna. He is currently product manager of ADOIT (www.boc-group.com/en/adoit), a tool suite for enterprise architecture, which is rated as a “leader” by analyst firms. He is head of enterprise architecture and transformation in the BOC Group. In his many years of consulting work, he has supported numerous companies in the implementation of enterprise architecture and process management as part of business transformation initiatives. Furthermore, he is a lecturer at the University of Vienna in the areas of enterprise modelling and enterprise architecture management.

Helen Burke

Vice President, IDA

Helen Burke is Vice President of IDA Ireland, with responsibility for driving Transformation and Innovation across the IDA client portfolio. Her role involves working on a consultancy level to identify strategic solutions resulting in increased productivity, resilience & innovation. Helen is currently based in Ireland but prior to this worked in New York, Frankfurt and Paris with responsibility for securing employment intensive investment for Ireland. She speaks fluent French and German and graduated with a Business Studies / German degree from University of Limerick followed by a Computer Science Master’s Degree. Helen has recently completed an Advanced Diploma in Personal, Leadership and Executive Coaching and has a great interest in people’s ability to reach their full potential through effective coaching.

Dr Zsuzsanna Zarka

Maynooth University Project Lead, IUA MicroCreds Project

Dr Zsuzsanna Zarka is Project Lead for Maynooth University’s partnership in the IUA MicroCreds Project and the coordinator of the development of Maynooth University’s suite of micro-credentials.

A Hungarian native, Zsuzsanna moved to Ireland in 2006 to pursue a PhD in History at Maynooth University. During her academic career, she was a recipient of a John and Pat Hume Scholarship, an Irish Research Council for Humanities and Social Sciences (IRCHSS) Postgraduate Scholarship, and an Irish Research Council (IRC) Postdoctoral Fellowship at Maynooth University. Following a postdoctoral research policy internship at the Irish Research Council and the Higher Education Authority, Zsuzsanna returned to Maynooth in 2015 as project manager for the implementation of the University’s acclaimed reformed model of the undergraduate curriculum. Prior to her current role, as Quality Officer Zsuzsanna was the project manager for a suite of quality enhancement activities at Maynooth.

Professor Eeva Leinonen

President, Maynooth University

Professor Eeva Leinonen joined Maynooth University as President in October 2021, after five years of service as Vice Chancellor and President at Murdoch University, Perth, Australia.

Professor Leinonen was born and raised in Finland, where she completed her schooling. She and her two brothers were the first in their family to attend university. Her own experience has cemented her belief in the role of education as a social equaliser, with the power to transform for the better the lives of individuals, families and whole communities.

As part of her education in Finland Professor Leinonen spent a year as an exchange student in Michigan, USA, prior to entering university in England, where she studied linguistics and psychology. She obtained a BSc (Hons) in Linguistics and Psychology (First Class) from Aston University, UK; MPhil in Text Linguistics from Exeter University, UK: PhD in Clinical Linguistics from De Montfort University, UK; Docent (Higher Doctorate) from her hometown university, University of Oulu, Finland; and DSc (Honoris Causa) from Aston University, UK.

Professor Leinonen’s academic research focuses on pragmatic language processing deficits in children and young adults with autistic spectrum disorders. She collaborates with colleagues in Finland and Italy, including recent work on cross-cultural comparison of pragmatic development in typically developing children in these two cultural contexts. She also speaks and writes about higher education topics, including institutional leadership, curriculum and technology enhanced learning.

Professor Leinonen has extensive experience in higher education in the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and internationally. Prior to joining Maynooth University, she spent over eight years in Australia, where she first held the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education) at the University of Wollongong and then Vice Chancellor of Murdoch University.

Dr Viviana Bastidas

Research Associate, Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction (CSIC)
Viviana is a research associate at the Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction (CSIC), Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge. She works on the Digital Cities for Change (DC2) project which aims to deepen understanding of how city data can improve planning, management, and the delivery of public services. Her career interests are in the design of urban socio-technical systems, focussing on governance and ethical innovation to enable the deployment of digital solutions that create public value and meet people’s needs. She is a research collaborator of the Innovation Value Institute (IVI) at Maynooth University. Viviana’s research has been published in high-quality journals in the domains of Urban Management, Urban Technology, Business and Information Systems Engineering, Digital Transformation, and the Internet of Things.

John O’Shea

Chief Digital Transformation Officer

Dr. John O’Shea has more than 24 years; career experience in a variety of global roles including executive leadership within global fortune 500 companies. He currently works at Dell Technologies as Chief Digital Transformation Officer.
Previous to working at Dell Technologies; Dr O’Shea was Global Leader of Smart Solutions within AI, blockchain and IOT for Lenovo. He is a member of the Global Digital Twin Consortium and the Global Blockchain Forum and is a renowned Keynote Speaker within Digital Twin, IOT & AI, Blockchain and Edge computing. A global speaker on innovation and representing Dell Technologies as a Key Note Speaker at the United Nations GMIS Summit 2019, 2020 & 2021.

Cinzia Cappiello

Associate Professor in Computer Science and Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano (Milan, Italy)

Cinzia Cappiello is an Associate Professor in Computer Science and Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano (Milan, Italy), from which she holds a PhD in Information Technology (2005). Her research interests regard data and information quality, data management and data  ecosystems. She is an associate editor of the ACM Journal of Data and Information Quality (JDIQ) and she has co-chaired conference tracks (e.g., ECIS, MCIS) and several international workshops related to data quality (e.g., International Workshop on the Quality of Web Engineering, International Workshop on the Quality of Databases).

Maksym Karpash

Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas

In 2004 graduated from IFNTUOG with MSc in Physics. In 2006 was awarded a PhD degree from Lviv Polytechnic in Non-Destructive Testing and Evaluation. Worked at different positions at IFNTUOG related with research and international activities. From 2017 holds a position of Vice-Rector. In 2013 was awarded a degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences. Since 2014 holds a part-time position at the Department of Energy Management.

M.Karpash since the very beginning of his professional career was a team member and/or lead of more than 50 projects, funded by national and international sources. Cofounder of interactive Science City “New Energy”.

Author of more than 120 scientific articles, 110 conference abstracts, 20 patents, nearly 10 textbooks and monographs, more than 20 national standards etc. Academic tutor of 6 PhD students. Certified trainer of National Agency of Higher Education Quality Assurance, Ukraine.

Brian McLafferty

Director of Digitalisation and Operational excellence in Abbott

Brian is a Director of Digitalisation and Operational excellence in Abbott Vascular in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary. His current focus is to drive the digitalisation of the manufacturing operations across the five manufacturing sites in the division. He previously worked in Hewlett-Packard in Co. Kildare. While starting in their Inkjet manufacturing organisation, he spent the last 10 years in HP’s Financial Services group, driving their digitalization strategy. During this time he worked to develop and implement a number of digitalisation programs to transform the day-to-day experience of the employees in changing the systems and processes they used. He was also instrumental in developing a number of external facing tools and systems for their customers and selling partners that supported a double-digit revenue growth during this time.

He holds an MSc in Technology and Innovation Management and MBA from the Smurfit Business school in Blackrock, Dublin. He is also currently working to complete his PhD in Management Information Systems (MIS) through the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, where his research is focused on digital platforms.

Dr Zohreh Pourzolfaghar

Digital Construction Cluster Lead

Zohreh Pourzolfaghar is Assistant Professor for the School of Business in Maynooth University. She is a members of Lero, the Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre for Software. Zohreh formerly has been Research Fellow at Innovation Value Institute (IVI), Maynooth University’s digital transformation research centre. She is a senior research member of the Business Informatics Group. She is the theme lead in a project investigating the application of Enterprise Architecture in Smart Cities, funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI). She has been Principle Investigator for an Industry Fellowship Programme, funded by SFI. Zohreh presented her work at international conferences and has published research in Journals and Conference Proceedings. Zohreh is also leading research within the Cost Action CA16222 (WISE-ACT), a European-wide network.  She has been thematic lead in a successful European Marie Curie PERFORM project. She is a member of the supervisory board of the EU project PERFORM, that focuses on Digital Retail. She has been awarded the SFI industry fellowship (2018) working with industry on topics related to Smart Cities and Building Information Management. She is the Co-PI for submitted H202 Techland proposal. Zohreh received her Ph.D. in Project Management in design process of building projects. Zohreh has years of experience working with project-oriented construction companies to improve organisatioanal productivity and their work processes.

Ralph Montague

Director, ArcDox

Ralph Montague is a director of ArcDox, a specialist BIM (Building Information Modelling) consultancy practice based in Dublin, Ireland, providing professionally managed advice, production, support and training services to the construction and property industry. A registered architect with almost 30 years’ experience in managing large projects, Ralph endorses BIM as a more cost effective and highly efficient way of producing and managing design and construction documentation. and improving the building process.
Ralph is a member of the National BIM Council of Ireland and coordinator of the Construction IT Alliance (CITA) BIM Group. In these roles, he has been instrumental in leading the development and adoption of BIM in Ireland since 2009. As past chairman of the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland (RIAI) practice sub-committee for BIM, Ralph has represented Ireland on the Architects Council of Europe (ACE) BIM Working. He is also the current chair of the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) Technical Mirror Committee on BIM, monitoring the work on European Committee for Standardization (CEN TC442) and International Organization for Standardization (ISOTC59) technical committees on BIM standards. Ralph is also a part-time lecturer at Trinity College Dublin School of Engineering Post-Graduate Diploma in Project Management.

Matthew Mullarkey

Director of the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) Program for the USF Muma College of Business

Matthew T. Mullarkey is the Director of the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) Program for the USF Muma College of Business and an Instructor in the School of Information Systems and Management (SISM). Mullarkey received a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems from the University of South Florida, an MBA from the University of South Carolina, an MS in Systems Management from the University of Southern California, and a BS in Engineering from the United States Military Academy (West Point).

Mullarkey’s areas of research interest include design science research and action research in the evaluation and creation of information systems, smart cities, IoT, healthcare, social networking, and data science. Mullarkey teaches using case based discussions that engage Doctoral, MBA and MIS undergraduates in complex business decisions that typically involve a technology component. His case study based capstone courses emphasize critical thinking, business analysis, and the impact of information technology and systems on real‐world, business decision‐making. Mullarkey is the Editor‐in‐Chief of the USF Muma Case Review and an editor and reviewer for a number of academic journals.

Mullarkey is a 2019-2020 recipient of the Fulbright Scholar Award, 2018 recipient of the USF Faculty Externship Award, 2017 recipient of the USF Muma College of Business Outstanding Faculty Community Engagement Award, and 2015-2016 ISDS Undergraduate Teacher of the Year Award. Mullarkey was named a 2019-2021 Extraordinary Research Scientist at North West University, Potchefstroom, South Africa.

Dr Beatrice Heneghan

Director of ICT at NUI Galway

Dr Beatrice Heneghan is Director of ICT at NUI Galway with responsibility for delivering transformative ICT for the enablement of impactful research, innovation and teaching in an enhanced student learning environment. In her prior role Beatrice served as Head of Information Systems and Innovation at Mayo County Council. Previously, she held posts in ICT and Digital Transformation in Laois and Limerick local authorities.

Beatrice served as Chair of the local government sectoral Architecture and Standards Group (ASG) and on the national ePlanning and Central Data Unit boards. She is a member of Lero – the Science Foundation Ireland Software Research Centre, the Maynooth University Business Informatics Research Group and the Innovation Value Institute (IVI). She is also a member of the International Advisory Board for the Professional Doctorate in Engineering programme at the University of Limerick and contributes as a guest lecturer to the programme. In 2021 Beatrice received the IVI Leadership in Digital Transformation in the Public Sector award.

While having wide experience in the Information Systems (IS) field her particular expertise is in the area of data governance and enterprise architecture with a focus on business/IT alignment in the design and delivery of strategy. Beatrice holds a doctorate in engineering from the University of Limerick and master’s in software engineering from NUI Galway. Beatrice has presented at national and international academic and practitioner conferences and continues to collaborate on research in IS.

Dr Aisling Soden

Prior to joining IDA Aisling worked as a Programme Manager in Science Foundation Ireland. Aisling obtained a PhD in Earth Science from the University of Glasgow and has held postdoctoral positions in the University of Strathclyde and UCD.

His main research work focuses on Human-Computer-Interaction and User Experience especially in the areas of digital commerce, digital marketing, digital innovation, business modelling and digital retail. Andreas is (co-)author of 80+ publications and gained €4.0+mio research funds in his main research areas.

Seán Tobin

Seán works in the Operational Excellence & Digital Department in Enterprise Ireland. To date, he has had the opportunity to work with Founders of Start-Ups, C-Suite Executives in SMEs & Large companies, and Researchers in Third Level Institutions all with the aim of ensuring that the continued innovation from Irish businesses is front and centre both nationally and internationally.

His role as Digital Transformation Specialist comprises of helping Irish companies think ‘digital first’ through the creation of funding supports and training supports and connecting key stakeholders in the digital eco-system. A key driver for Seán is to identify ways to demystify Digital Transformation and promote the benefits it can have for businesses across Ireland.

Martin Stabauer

Martin Stabauer is Senior Scientist at the Institute of Digital Business at Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria, and Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Education at OntarioTech University, Canada.

His main research focuses on digital business models, technological enablers and human-computer interaction, and is published in conference proceedings and journals. He was and currently is Principal Investigator of several industry-funded research projects, and JKUs Scientist-in-Charge of the European Marie Curie project PERFORM. He mainly teaches in the Master program Digital Business Management which is run together with the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria. For the inquiry-based learning project Crossteaching he was awarded the 2018 Austrian State price for excellent teaching.

Terry Landers

Terry Landers is consulting engineer, keynote speaker, and advisor to international bodies across the spectrum of Future and emerging technologies,  especially in AI, Cybersecurity and Brain Computer Interface, and the policy responses to these developments.
He recently retired from Microsoft after nearly 20 years where he served as Chief Standards Officer for Europe Middle-East and Africa, working mainly on Cybersecurity and AI  themes across a superset of topics including Privacy, Data protection, Ethics and Governance.
He chaired the national ICT Standards committee ( ICTSCC) under NSAI for  10 years representing Ireland at International tech for across the globe.  He has also chaired NSAI committees focussed on Cybersecurity, Cloud computing and IT Governance. He  also published  the  International Standard on Data Governance standard –  Guidelines for data classification  [TS 38505-3]
Prior to joining Microsoft in 2003, he worked in Ericsson Ireland where he served as Chief Technical Officer. During the early part of his career he also worked in Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) as Senior Engineer. In the mid-1990’s, he worked with Forfás, the Irish Government Agency that was the national policy advisory board for science, technology and innovation where he was secretary to Ireland’s Information Society and Technology Foresight initiatives, the latter leading to the formation of Science Foundation Ireland.
He holds BSc and MBA degrees,  is a Chartered Engineer, and a Fellow of the Irish Computer Society. He is a Board member of Skillnet Ireland.

Derick Mitchell, PhD (@DerickOMisteal) is the Chief Executive Officer of IPPOSI. Derick has a background in research, strategy and advocacy from over 12 years’ experience spanning a number of leadership roles in research and multi-stakeholder engagement in Ireland and at the EU-level. Derick has a strong track record in collaborating to influence healthcare policy with the goals of enhancing research infrastructure, increasing patient involvement and improving access to treatments. Derick believes in the power of a united voice when it comes to patient advocacy and the central role of patients and their representative organisations in healthcare and research.

At an international level, Derick is an elected board member of the European Patients Academy (EUPATI) Foundation, a global initiative which is training patients to become involved in the medicines R&D process, and has spread the IPPOSI public-private partnership model to over 20 countries. Derick is  chairperson of the European patient representative round-table of ISPOR – the Professional Society for Health Economics and Outcomes Research; a Patient Advisor to the OECD Patient-Reported Indicator Survey (PaRiS) initiative as well as a founding member of the European Patients’ Forum-led DataSavesLives.eu initiative.

Michael Hanley

Leads IVI's academic education and professional training & certification programmes

Michael is involved in IVI’s academic education and professional training & certification programmes. Since 2011, IVI has trained more than 8000 professionals globally, helping organisations digitally transform using IVI’s Capability Maturity Framework. More recently he co-created the MSc in Digital Healthcare Transformation hosted in UL, and ReThink|ReDesign – Maynooth University’s SME digital transformation initiative, supported by Enterprise Ireland’s innovation voucher scheme. In early 2022 he successfully completed a pilot Future Workforce Skills Development Programme for a large public sector organisation. He created the course using an innovative approach he calls Design Thinking for Teaching & Development (DT4TD).

Michael has an MSc in Education & Technology, and he is a Fellow of the Irish Institute of Training and Development.

He will complete his Doctorate in Education Leadership in 2023. His doctoral thesis concerns the impact of digital transformation and disruptive innovation on Irish higher education institutions’ future strategy, business models, and value propositions.

Professor Neil J Rowan

Professor Neil J Rowan is Director of the Bioscience Research Institute at Technological University of the Shannon Midlands Midwest. He is Funded Investigator at SFI-funded CURAM Research Centre for Medical Devices and holds Adjunct Professorships in the School of Medicine (NUI Galway), School of Biotechnology (University of Malaya, Malaysia), and School of Traditional Medicinal (University of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa).  He was Senior Lecturer and co-founder of Roberston Laboratories for Electronic Sterilization at University of Strathclyde University where he received a 5* in UK Research Assessment Exercise.  He has over 3 decades of supporting and enabling development of sustaining, green and disruptive technologies across food, medtech and environmental applications. He has supervised 28 PhDs to completion and published approximately 250 journal papers in these areas. He has co-created Empower Eco (Ecosystem)  Quadruple Helix platform for supporting industry with key actors regionally for developing green innovations that features in Midlands Regional Development Plant 2024. He has applied digital technologies to complex societal challenges. He is nationally and internationally funded including Interreg, Horizon Europe and Erasmus plus.  As member of Expert Working Group,  he has contributed  to national policies including “Research, Innovation Strategy, Impact 2030”. He evaluates regularly for the European Commission including EIC Pathfinder Open Programme.

Professor Martin Curley

Professor of Innovation at Maynooth University and Digital Health Lead at IVI

Martin Curley is Professor of Innovation at Maynooth University. Most recently, Martin was Director of the Digital Transformation and Open Innovation at the Health Service Executive (HSE), helping enable the digital transformation of Ireland’s health service and also served as Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the HSE. Prior to joining the HSE Martin was Senior Vice President and group head for Global Digital Practice at Mastercard. Previously Martin was vice president at Intel Corporation and Director/GM of Intel Labs Europe, Intel’s network of more than 50 research labs which he helped grow across the European region. He also served as a senior principal engineer at Intel Labs Europe leading Intel’s research and innovation engagement with the European Commission and the broader European Union research ecosystem. Prior to this Curley was Global Director of IT Innovation and Director of IT Strategy and Technology at Intel. Earlier in his Intel career, he held a number of senior positions for Intel in the United States and Europe. He also worked in research and management positions at GE in Ireland and Philips in the Netherlands.

Martin has a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering and a master’s degree in business studies, both from University College Dublin, Ireland. He received his Ph.D. in information systems from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth. Curley is the author of eight books on technology management for value, innovation and entrepreneurship. He is a Member of the Royal Irish Academy, fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Ireland, the British Computer Society and, the Irish Computer Society. Martin is co-founder of the Innovation Value Institute at Maynooth University, a unique industry-academia collaboration driving research and development of advanced IT and Digital maturity frameworks. He was previously a visiting scholar at MIT Sloan Centre for Information Systems Research and a visiting research fellow at the CERN Open Lab in Geneva. He was the inaugural winner of the Engineers Ireland Innovation engineer of the year in 2006 and was jointly awarded European Chief Technology Officer of the year for 2015-2016.

Leo Clancy

Leo Clancy is the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Ireland, the state agency that helps Irish companies to start, grow, innovate and win export sales in global markets.

Before being appointed as CEO of Enterprise Ireland, Leo led the Technology, Consumer and Business Services sector as well as IT, Marketing Communications and Corporate Services at IDA Ireland and was a member of the Executive Management team. In that role, Leo worked extensively with global technology and services companies invested in Ireland.

Prior to his public sector career, Leo spent 17 years in the telecommunications industry, including in a number of management, technical and engineering roles. He was part of the senior leadership team at e|net, a high-growth Irish wholesale broadband provider and spent his early career at Ericsson, primarily working on global services for deployment of mobile and fixed networks.

Leo is a frequent contributor to press interviews, conference speaking and blogs. On behalf of Enterprise Ireland, he is a member of a number of cross-departmental and cross-agency groups.

Leo graduated from Dublin Institute of Technology with a First-Class Honours degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering in 1996. He grew up on a farm in County Tipperary and retains a strong fundamental understanding of the agricultural and food sector, in addition to his broader business experience of technology, services and manufacturing industries.

Professor Brian Donnellan

Professor Brian Donnellan is Professor of Management Information Systems at Maynooth University.

Previous senior management positions in Maynooth University include  Vice President of Engagement and Innovation, Vice President and Dean of International Affairs and Academic Director of the Innovation Value Institute. He is active researcher in four Science Foundation Ireland research centres.

A native of County Clare, he graduated from University of Limerick with a B. Engineering in Electronic Engineering, an MBA and PhD (Computer Science and Information Systems). Prior to becoming an academic, Brian spent 19 years working in the IT industry, where he was responsible for Computer-Aided-Engineering for New Product Development.

Professor Eeva Leinonen

Professor Eeva Leinonen joined Maynooth University as President in October 2021, after five years of service as Vice Chancellor and President at Murdoch University, Perth, Australia.

Professor Leinonen was born and raised in Finland, where she completed her schooling. She and her two brothers were the first in their family to attend university. Her own experience has cemented her belief in the role of education as a social equaliser, with the power to transform for the better the lives of individuals, families and whole communities.

As part of her education in Finland Professor Leinonen spent a year as an exchange student in Michigan, USA, prior to entering university in England, where she studied linguistics and psychology. She obtained a BSc (Hons) in Linguistics and Psychology (First Class) from Aston University, UK; MPhil in Text Linguistics from Exeter University, UK: PhD in Clinical Linguistics from De Montfort University, UK; Docent (Higher Doctorate) from her hometown university, University of Oulu, Finland; and DSc (Honoris Causa) from Aston University, UK.

Professor Leinonen’s academic research focuses on pragmatic language processing deficits in children and young adults with autistic spectrum disorders. She collaborates with colleagues in Finland and Italy, including recent work on cross-cultural comparison of pragmatic development in typically developing children in these two cultural contexts. She also speaks and writes about higher education topics, including institutional leadership, curriculum and technology enhanced learning.

Professor Leinonen has extensive experience in higher education in the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and internationally. Prior to joining Maynooth University, she spent over eight years in Australia, where she first held the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education) at the University of Wollongong and then Vice Chancellor of Murdoch University.

Stephanie L. Woerner

Stephanie L. Woerner, Ph.D. is a Research Scientist at the Center for Information Systems Research (CISR) at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Stephanie studies how companies use technology and data to create more effective business models and how they manage the associated organizational change. Her co-authored articles include “Thriving in an Increasingly Digital Ecosystem,” (named one of the top articles of the decade by SMR), “It Pays to Have a Digitally Savvy Board,” and “Does Your C-Suite Have Enough Digital Smarts?” in Sloan Management Review. In 2018 Stephanie and Peter Weill published What’s Your Digital Business Model? Six questions to help you build the next generation enterprise, (Harvard Business Review Press, 2018). Stephanie, Peter Weill and Ina Sebastian are writing a book on digital business transformation, Future Ready: The four pathways to capturing digital value, forthcoming in Fall 2022. She earned her Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Brian Fitzgerald

Brian Fitzgerald is Director of Lero–the Irish Software Research Centre where he previously held the role of Chief Scientist. He holds an endowed professorship, the Krehbiel Chair in Innovation in Business & Technology, at the University of Limerick, where he also served as Vice President Research. In 2019, he was elected President of the Association for Information Systems, the global body for information systems worldwide.

He holds a PhD from the University of London and his research interests lie primarily in software development, encompassing open source and inner source, crowdsourcing software development, agile and lean software development, and global software development. His publications include 17 books, and almost 200 peer-reviewed articles in the leading international journals and conferences in both the Information Systems and Software Engineering fields, including MIS Quarterly (MISQ), Information Systems Research (ISR), IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering (TSE) and ACM Transactions on Software Engineering Methodology (TOSEM). Prior to taking up an academic position, he worked in the software industry for about 12 years, including positions with Citibank in Frankfurt and Brussels.

Her background in business development, corporate sales, retail and project management has enabled her to lead a committed team, who together with strategic partners are working to deliver the vision of Beauty Buddy.

Beauty Buddy is a data analytics company for the beauty and cosmetic industry. Data is gathered through an app with thousands of engaged beauty consumers. A sort of TripAdvisor for beauty and cosmetic products. We then partner with brands and retailers to give them targeted product sampling, unique data insights and product reviews.

As an Enterprise Ireland HPSU client, they have raised a pre-seed round and are currently raising their seed round. Wendy also took part in New Frontiers, NDRC Portershed, DCU Female High Fliers and Google’s Adopt a Start-up. Wendy won an AIB Women in Enterprise Award in 2019, was a finalist in the Irish Times Innovation Awards 2020, and won silver in the Digital Business Awards, backed by PTSB.

Anne Josephine Flanagan

Anne Josephine Flanagan is Vice President for Artificial Intelligence at the Future of Privacy Forum, a Washington DC-based non-profit with offices globally. FPF serves as a catalyst for privacy leadership and scholarship, advancing principled data practices in support of emerging technologies.  Anne leads FPF’s portfolio of projects exploring the data flows driving algorithmic and AI products and services, their opportunities and risks, and the ethical and responsible development of this technology.

An international policy expert in Data and Artificial Intelligence, Anne is an economist and strategic technology governance and business leader with 18+ years’ experience on five continents, including in the EU and the U.S.

Anne spent over a decade in the Irish government and EU institutions, including developing Ireland’s technical policy positions and diplomatic strategy in relation to EU legislation on telecoms, digital infrastructure, and data. She has represented Ireland in the EU Digital Single Market Strategic Group at the European Commission, the Working Party on Telecommunications and Information Society at the Council of the European Union and was responsible for foundational work on the EU’s Digital Single Market, including the EU’s early approach to AI governance.

Since moving to the U.S. in 2019, Anne has held several senior positions in technology policy, where she has helped senior technology business leaders shape responsible and sustainable technology development through her research, advice, and expertise. At the World Economic Forum, she developed and led a global portfolio of work on Data Policy and later led cross-product policy strategy for Reality Labs Policy at Meta Platforms Inc. in San Francisco, California.

Helen Burke

Helen Burke is Vice President of IDA Ireland, with responsibility for driving Transformation and Innovation across the IDA client portfolio. Her role involves working on a consultancy level to identify strategic solutions resulting in increased productivity, resilience & innovation. Helen is currently based in Ireland but prior to this worked in New York, Frankfurt and Paris with responsibility for securing employment intensive investment for Ireland. She speaks fluent French and German and graduated with a Business Studies / German degree from University of Limerick followed by a Computer Science Master’s Degree. Prof Dimitris Karagiannis

Dimitris holds a full professor position for Business Informatics at the University of Vienna since 1993, leading the Research Group Knowledge Engineering. He received his PhD degree from the Technical University Berlin in 1987. The same year he joined the Research Institute for Application-oriented Knowledge Processing in Ulm as division head for “Enterprise Information Systems”. Prof. Karagiannis holds an honorary professorship from the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Dr Joe Timoney joined the Dept. of Computer Science at Maynooth University in 1999. He teaches on undergraduate programs in Computer Science and in Music Technology. Michael Earley

Michael is the BIM Manager with daa since 2019 and is a member of the digital transformation team responsible for the for the delivery of the Airport Capital Investment Programme CIP2020-24. Michael is responsible for the implementation of the BIM strategy and the integration of systems to ensure seamless transfer of information during the full life cycle of physical and digital assets. Professor Martin Curley

Martin Curley is Professor of Innovation at Maynooth University. Most recently, Martin was Director of the Digital Transformation and Open Innovation at the Health Service Executive (HSE), helping enable the digital transformation of Ireland’s health service and also served as Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the HSE. Prior to joining the HSE Martin was Senior Vice President and group head for Global Digital Practice at Mastercard. Previously Martin was vice president at Intel Corporation and Director/GM of Intel Labs Europe, Intel’s network of more than 50 research labs which he helped grow across the European region. He also served as a senior principal engineer at Intel Labs Europe leading Intel’s research and innovation engagement with the European Commission and the broader European Union research ecosystem. Earlier in his Intel career, he held a number of senior positions for Intel in the United States and Europe. Dr Siobhan Roche

As Director of Science for the Economy, Siobhan leads the Foundation’s strategic objectives focused on supporting enterprise competitiveness and development through driving collaborative research initiatives between academia and enterprise. This includes establishment of a network of internationally leading SFI Research Centres and bespoke enterprise partnerships. Siobhan holds a B.A. Mod in Genetics from Trinity College Dublin and a PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California at Berkeley (USA). Prior to moving to Science Foundation Ireland, she worked as a research scientist in both the private sector and in third level research, focussing on the application of genetics and genomics technology to deciphering the biological causes of illnesses such as cancer, cardiovascular disease and mental health disorders.  Siobhan has authored publications in leading, peer-reviewed journals and holds several international patents.

Asst Professor Ray Walshe

Ray is Senior Researcher in the ADAPT Research Centre in Dublin City University (DCU), IRELAND. He began his career in industry as a software engineer, software consultant and project manager with LM Ericsson, Software and Systems Engineering Limited and Siemens. Joining the School of Computing DCU in 1995 he delivers AI, IoT and Data Governance modules on Undergraduate, Masters, and PhD Programmes and is current (2021) Chair of the Graduate Diploma in Web Technologies. Ray is Chair of Big Data Value Association Standards Task Force, Chair of Network Development @ Gender Responsive Standards at the United Nations Economic Committee for Europe, Chair of the External Advisory Board of StandICT.eu, Chair of the Foresight Committee for EUOS, Research Partner in StandICT2023.eu and Co-Lead on ELITE-S Fellowship Programme for Emerging Technologies Standardization (Elite-Fellowships.eu). Ray has been a Digital Leader with World Economic Forum since 2016 and was appointed to the IEEE European Public Policy Committee on ICT in 2019 as the AI WG Lead for IEEE EPPC. Ray was also appointed in 2020 to the OECD Network of Experts (ONE AI).

Prof Wolfgang Weitzl

Dr. Wolfgang Jonas Weitzl is a (full) professor of digital marketing at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria and research associate within the Corporate Communication Research Group (CCom) at the Department of Communication at the University of Vienna. His main research interests include the following topics: (1) consumer online engagement (with a special emphasis on online consumer-to-consumer interactions (eWOM) including online customer reviews, online complaints on social media, brand advocates/activists, and brand communities); (2) retail and service marketing with a special emphasis on complaint handling and consumer complaining behaviors (e.g., revenge taking); and (3) online persuasion (including the role of trust and deception).

Wolfgang has published various articles on above mentioned topics as well as on issues related to marketing, retailing, consumer behaviour and psychology. His research is primarily driven by quantitative research methods. He also serves as a reviewer for several journals (e.g., Psychology & Marketing, Journal of Business Research, European Journal of Marketing) and international conferences (e.g., AMA, AMS WMC, ANZMAC, EMAC). He is member of different academic organizations including the European Marketing Academy (EMAC), the American Marketing Association (AMA), Association for Consumer Research (ACR), the Society of Consumer Psychology (SCP), and the British Psychological Society (BPS).

He teaches a number of subjects – including digital marketing, branding, social media marketing, marketing communications, methods of marketing, social and communication research – at different academic institutions. His teaching is typically characterized by project-based courses in cooperation with companies and other organizations. The courses should assist students to understand the role and application of interdisciplinary research – including latest insights from the communications, retailing, marketing, and social psychology discipline – for solving managerial as well as societal problems.

Wolfgang received his venia docendi (habilitation) in business administration (2020) and his Ph.D. in Management/Consumer Behaviour (2014) from the University of Vienna, where he was a research and teaching associate at the Department of Marketing. His doctoral thesis focuses on the influence of marketers’ and consumers’ communication in the era of social media by developing a new quantitative measurement scale for trust in electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) and introducing a novel segmentation approach for online communication recipients. He received the Vienna Award for Retailing Research (2014) for his dissertation and various research funds. He also holds a M.Sc. (2009) and a B.Sc. (2008) in Business Administration from the University of Vienna. Before joining academia, Wolfgang also gathered practical experience by working for numerous Austrian companies mainly in the communications and advertising sector.

Declan Hadley, Healthcare Development Lead UK&I Cisco

Dr Beatrice Heneghan

Dr Beatrice Heneghan is Director of ICT at NUI Galway with responsibility for delivering transformative ICT for the enablement of impactful research, innovation and teaching in an enhanced student learning environment. In her prior role Beatrice served as Head of Information Systems and Innovation at Mayo County Council. Previously, she held posts in ICT and Digital Transformation in Laois and Limerick local authorities.

Beatrice served as Chair of the local government sectoral Architecture and Standards Group (ASG) and on the national ePlanning and Central Data Unit boards. She is a member of Lero – the Science Foundation Ireland Software Research Centre, the Maynooth University Business Informatics Research Group and the Innovation Value Institute (IVI). She is also a member of the International Advisory Board for the Professional Doctorate in Engineering programme at the University of Limerick and contributes as a guest lecturer to the programme. In 2021 Beatrice received the IVI Leadership in Digital Transformation in the Public Sector award.

While having wide experience in the Information Systems (IS) field her particular expertise is in the area of data governance and enterprise architecture with a focus on business/IT alignment in the design and delivery of strategy. Beatrice holds a doctorate in engineering from the University of Limerick and master’s in software engineering from NUI Galway. Dr Zohreh Pourzolfaghar

Zohreh Pourzolfaghar is Assistant Professor for the School of Business in Maynooth University. She is a members of Lero, the Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre for Software. Zohreh formerly has been Research Fellow at Innovation Value Institute (IVI), Maynooth University’s digital transformation research centre. She is a senior research member of the Business Informatics Group. She is the theme lead in a project investigating the application of Enterprise Architecture in Smart Cities, funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI). She has been Principle Investigator for an Industry Fellowship Programme, funded by SFI. Zohreh presented her work at international conferences and has published research in Journals and Conference Proceedings. Zohreh is also leading research within the Cost Action CA16222 (WISE-ACT), a European-wide network.  She has been thematic lead in a successful European Marie Curie PERFORM project. She is a member of the supervisory board of the EU project PERFORM, that focuses on Digital Retail. She has been awarded the SFI industry fellowship (2018) working with industry on topics related to Smart Cities and Building Information Management. She is the Co-PI for submitted H202 Techland proposal. Zohreh received her Ph.D. in Project Management in design process of building projects. Zohreh has years of experience working with project-oriented construction companies to improve organisatioanal productivity and their work processes.
