Matt Craig, BNY Mellon Head of Performance & Value Management accepted the IVI ‘Leader in IT Value Award’ from Martin Delaney, IVI General Manager & Technology Leader on behalf of Suresh Kumar at the recent IVI Autumn Summit in Carton House, Maynooth.

The Innovation Value Institute (IVI) was co-founded in 2006 by Maynooth University and Intel to help drive the transformation of IT management and to create a global gold standard for best practice in IT management. The Institute researches and promotes proven and industry validated IT best practice in collaboration with leading academic and industry practitioners.

Suresh Kumar is Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer for BNY Mellon, a global investments company, delivering investment management and investment services to institutions, corporations and individual investors. Suresh leads BNY Mellon’s Client Technology Solutions organization with approximately 13,000 employees worldwide. He serves on BNY Mellon’s Executive Committee, the organization’s most senior management body and is also the Chief Executive Officer of iNautix Technologies, a BNY Mellon Company that provides offshore development services.

Under Suresh Kumar’s leadership, BNY Mellon’s Client Technology Solutions is at the forefront of everything the company does, delivering innovative and exceptional technology solutions that power the business, securing sensitive data, and helping the company’s clients and employees to succeed. This includes the development and deployment of BNY Mellon’s new cloud-enabled, API-connected digital ecosystem, known as NEXEN.

Suresh is an advocate of measuring and benchmarking to create a culture of evidence based management. As part of this philosophy, he championed the adoption of IVI’s IT-CMF to ensure that its vast infrastructure and 13,000 technology employees are focused on Capability Excellence to deliver the functionality and value needed to support this global enterprise.

Before assuming his current role, Suresh was Chief Information Officer for BNY Mellon’s Financial Markets & Treasury Services (FM&TS) group and Pershing LLC. Prior to his appointment as CIO for Pershing, he served in that role with CSFBdirect and DLJdirect where he was instrumental in pioneering the delivery of online brokerage services via the Prodigy Network, America Online and ultimately the Worldwide Web.

Suresh earned a Bachelor of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology at Madras, a Master of Business Administration degree from the Indian Institute of Management at Ahmedabad and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the New York Institute of Technology. He has been named “CIO of the Year” by the New Jersey Technology Council, a “Top 100 CIO” by CIO Insight magazine and a “Premier 100 IT Leaders” by Computerworld.
