Winning the Race: Inspiring the Digital Future

08:00-08:45 GoGreen Trails Climate Walk

See details of the 1km GoGreen Trails walk here.

In GoGreen Trails, nature is at the foreground of the experience and a planetary health perspective is used to promote dialogue on the interactions between human health and planetary health in light of climate change challenges. Using technology to assess and monitor the natural ecosystem forms a citizen science component. A key element is the psychological dimension, whereby nature is viewed as a metaphor for resilience to promote participants adaptability to change. The walk is 3km in duration and is conducted at a leisurely pace to facilitate reflection and give time to listen to the birdsong and connect with nature.

Sara LynchThe walk will be led by Sara Lynch, a researcher on the GoGreen Next project where she has advanced the traditional ‘climate-walk’ approach whereby a walk in nature is used to spark discourse on climate-change issues with nature as a backdrop to the conversations. Sara is a  psychology graduate of TCD and a funded researcher on GoGreen Next. She is working on combining physical activity micro-interventions with planetary health literacy to advance an evidence-based approach to climate change initiatives. GoGreen Trails is currently being piloted with schools and communities and will be rolled out in theGoGreen Next pilot sites in Cork city, Klagenfurt city, the region of Paijat-Hame (Finland) and in Malta in 2026.
